NUTMEG
The Moorland Exhibition

The Moorland Exhibition was first staged in 1996, showing needlework and related skills. This took place in the old Duchy Hotel business centre. Due to lack of disabled access to the first floor, the exhibition moved the following year to the village primary school, which has been our home ever since.

Our new venue provided more exhibition space, allowing the addition of art and rural crafts to the exhibits, parking and a picnic area in the grounds and the, very welcome, service of light refreshments, by the W.I.

A programme of daily workshops was added to the activities in 1998, which have proved to be very popular. Guest tutors in the past have included Helen Stevens, Gilda Baron and The Royal School of Needlework, however, most of the tutors are local craftworkers, many of whom are exhibitors.

Between 40 and 50 different skills are shown and many demonstrations are given. The work of the exhibitors is offered for sale and materials and equipment for many crafts are available.

Nutmeg is a not for profit organisation. The organisers give their time voluntarily and no charges are made to the exhibitors. £1000 is donated to the school fund each year.

This is a light- hearted event. We enjoy ourselves and this relaxed atmosphere ensures that our visitors feel they are amongst friends.
